Well we all look forward to Super Tuesdays as the Jihad Continues between the Abu’s & The Alis. Super Tuesdays is the day where we have a panel of writers and sometimes some Guest writers. You know the stitch. Our Panel consists of Ejaz,Laal Chavel and Myself.Ejaz obviously writes From The Kop End,Laal Chavel writes about THE THEATER OF DREAMS and I for now will write about HEROES ARE REMEMBERED ,LEGENDS NEVER DIE, A post about legends. Lets get to it.

Yanks feel Rafa’s fury as Reds get stronger in the premiership
Ejaz Khan

Stevie and Co hack the hapless Newcastle at St James Park. Rafa has the backing of the dressing room as well as the fans, but not the board. What are the Yanks up to now of all times ?

Liverpool’s wonderful away form continues as there clash with Newcastle in Tyneside proved, also fairly one sided. The Reds welcomed back Fernando Torres to the starting lineup, along with Harry Kewell, and both players proved a constant thorn in Sam Allardyce’s side. The irony of the matchup was that Sam Allardyce had a lot to say about Rafa only being able to keep his job because of his Istanbul heroics, and here Benitez could smile to himself as he watched the hordes of Newcastle fans making their way out of the stadium. He could even have afforded to laugh if he so wished when 2 newcastle fans lambasted Allardyce with words straight from the pits of hell, and Big Sam could feel the heat of those acid laced words his face and heart. A couple of yards to the side Benitez was doing some shouting of his own, getting instructions across to his players- Business as usual for the Red’ Boss. Another point to admire from the Liverpool manager, he seems to always prefer to do his talking with good results against his foes who tend to do their talking to the media. And when Ryan babel’s brilliantly taken goal went in, you could almost hear Rafa say “I got you !

Steven Gerrrard’s strike was as brilliant a strike as you will see this season. With two Newcastle defenders trying to put him off by steaming towards the ball, he struck the ball with such veracity and venom that it flew into the top corner and bulged the net before Shay Given could even attempt to move, such was the quality of the strike. A tremendous strike, a superb strike from the man who many would have thought would be adversely affected by England’s failure to secure a place at Euro 2008. But the Captain of Liverpool showed up on saturday knowing full well that three points was necessary to keep close to the top two. And the moment of true celebration came when Dirk Kuyt, Liverpools “hard working” striker – managed to score a goal, albeit a roche off the knee. Safe to say he was desperately in knee’d of a goal, and Gerrard’s corner need only a touch and Kuyt was in the right place at the right time. Lucas Leiva had a brilliant game too, he seems to be finding it quite easy to settle in when given his chance, and did really well allowing Gerrard to maraud forward at any given opportunity. It a testament of his Leiva’s ability that Gerrard feels as comfortable with Lucas as he does with Alonso and Mascherano, and Rafa must be happy with his signing. Togther with the fact that Benitez might not be able to secure Mascherano for the anointed 17 million pounds, Leiva is a briiliant fall back guy. And he is only 20, so thumbs up to the Liverpool scouting system for snapping up this brazilian gem.

Another gem is Ryan Babel who came on as a substitute linked up with well with Gerrard to score a well taken goal. Rafa has done well to ease him into the harsh world of the English game, and he is looking better with every passing game. Harry Kewell was brilliant on the left and if he manages to evade injury, could be a key player in Liverpool’s title push. Momo Sissoko once again failed to grasp the chance he was afforded, and it was a miracle he wasn’t hauled off. Benitez still backs him to come good, though fans are getting rather impatient with his poor passing, though it was rather strange that he was played out on the right. But he was tasked to do a job and didn’t manage to, so if dropped, Sissoko has only himself to blame.

Rafa : Yanks acting like *ancs – YOU, fill in the gap
The recent few days have been a weird one for Liverpool fans. They’ve seen two statements coming from The Yankee owners on the official website which seems to be indicating an authority message to Benitez. Can’t they just hold the purse open for Rafa and give him what he needs to land the premiership ? It could end up in Mourinho/Abramovich style but really, the American dua should be supporting Rafa wholeheartedly, not staggering all his efforts to build a strong enough team. Realistically, you just can’t win the league with players like Riise and Kuyt starting almost every game. You need to bring in the best to be the best. Well there naiveity in all things football is becoming more apparent. And there negative distraction has made supporters lose focus of what really matters, and that is, that Liverpool FC is improving with every game, and winning more than they lose in the league, oh wait they haven’t lost yet !! Now moving on to the European stage, and Porto now stand blocking Liverpool’s entry in to the elimination rounds, can Rafa’s Redmen build on the weekends victory and qualify?
Elsewhere in the premiership, former Liverpool striker Nicholas Anelka maintains his goal scoring prowess with a winning strike for struggling Bolton, lifting them upto a dizzying 15 th position …

NOW ITS OVER TO YOU CHAVEL

THEATER OF DREAMS
BY LAAL CHAVEL (RED RICE)
Inside the Theatre – Looking Ahead
The next month of Fixtures over the December period will be crucial to the title race. The big one coming up in the middle of December where we have back to back fixtures against the misery siders, Liverpool & Everton.
On either side of those games we have Fulham, Derby & Sunderland, West ham. Thankfully no injury worries over the final round of Euro qualifiers, with the only notable injury being Rooney who is expected back at home against Liverpool. I expect utter chaos on the blog after that game.
But let’s keep the arguments constructive, let’s argue football. To my fellow KOP ENDer don’t accuse okes of things they didn’t say. It’s about football not individuals, let’s keep it clean & ignore the anonymous comments. On a lighter side keep things simple for example if a color is red don’t flippin say scarlet!

Prospects
Like SAF said the return of Neville & Scholes will be like signing 2 new players. Such is the class & depth of the United squad. Neville is very close & should be back within 2 or 3 weeks with Scholes returning in the New Year. Another target for the Jan transfer window remains Miguel Veloso with SAF’s brother Martin (uniteds chief scout) attending most of Sporting’s games to track his progress. Other good news is SAF has tied down Tevez to a full time deal, his initial contract was a 2 year loan agreement. The fee remains undisclosed but SAF has indicated it was on the cheap & has set Tevez a target of 15 goals this season.

Last Game – Vs Bolton
Too many points to lament, I was disappointed with SAF for virtually blaming the ref for the defeat, but he had a few good points notably Davies viciously targeting Evra. It was obviously part of the Bolton game plan to play a bit dirty cos they fighting a relegation battle. The combination of Carrick & Hargreaves in midfield looked disjointed we needed a Scholes maybe Anderson to start with. Saha & Tevez will need time to build an effective combination, a learning curb none the less. Tevez remained the hardest working player on the field, & had a few decent opportunities. Roo & Ron were definitely missed more so was Vidic with Pique standing. A draw would have been a decent result as the Gooners pulled 3 points clear with game in hand – F##K

Davies should have been sent off for his rugby tackles, instead SAF was sent to the stands & now faces an FA misconduct charge. Veloso above right.
Next Game – Champs League v Sporting Lisbon
No real worries here we are at home in a fixture that should be a stroll. Rumour has it all eyes will be on Veloso as he remains the January transfer target. Look out for the Portuguese international.

HEROES ARE REMEMBERED AND LEGENDS NEVER DIE

Today I look at a position that is perhaps regarded as one of the most important positions on the field. Funny enough today to be a Full Back , You need to be a winger. The Full Back is now known as the Wing Back. This position is the forte of players like Zambrotta,Roberto Carlos, Salgado, Cafu,Phillipe Lham,Grosso for Italy. I was once at a wedding and one of my cousins was serving and running tirelessly when one uncle said to him. “YOU ARE IN THE CLASS OF CAFU, RUNIING UP AND DOWN ALL THE TIME”

I mean these guys pop up at crucial times and score important goals and are back there within a flash to defend. Being a man that played Full Back many a times obviuosly not in the manner of the elite company above….I realise the degree of fitness you need to possess being a wingback. You basically need to work up and down that flank.

So lets look at some great Full Backs past and present that are worthy of a mention on this post. And we can obviously debate about who owns this position. For starters Poalo Maldini started out as Full back and well Maldini again falls under the long list great Italian Defenders. When it comes to liverpool ,names like Phil Neal,Alan Kennedy, Stevie Nichol spring to mind. These boys were consistent. When it comes to Man Utd, Irwin, Neville did the businesses, Viv Anderson whom I met was Class. Even when it comes to consistency and no flair which our modern wing backs have, there were guys that used to come in week in and week out and get the job done. Lee Dixon and Winterburn were perfect examples, Gary Stevens and Kenny Samson for England. It was about coming out and getting the JOB DONE For Club and Country. So there are many names that spring to mind when it comes to Wingbacks or FullBacks past and present. Guiseppe Bergomi, Andreas Brehme, Lillian Thuram, Bixente Lizarazu,Stewart Pearce who was nicknamed Phsyco was tough and hard, Paolo Maldini, Angelo De Livio, the Italian Warhorse or Little Soldier, Manuel Amoros, Phil Neal…..The list is long but distinguished.Who the greatest is….I dunno.Im not being baised. But on awards, service and accolades…Il opt for Poalo Maldini

Why is this positio

n special. Because you have to Defend with HEART ,PUT your body on The Line and attack. And Possess skill. Covering your Centre Backs on the flanks against some of the best attacking players in the world.Imgaine Christiano Ronaldo coming at you in a packed THEATER.I rest my case

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MAYCHDAY 5

No real excitement here because most of the teams qualified, well nearly there. The Mancs once again stole in stoppage time but its not like they desperately wanted to win. They would have settled for a draw.

Wengers litys lost. They lost. Is this their first loss in the season. However they should go through. Good wins for Inter and Roma. And your heart must go out to the Scots.

But all avenues and roads point to the Big one tonight against PORTO. With the board up to no good and increasing amount of speculation mounting over Rafas exit, tonights game probably will determine the Spaniards fate.

Watch guys. If Liverpool lose tonight and the thought of exiting Europe will surely be enough reason to boot Rafa. However its 3 points we need against PORTO and 3 points We Will Get.

FROM THE KOP END.

Sheer Class. Going out there and doing the bussiness on a magical European Night. I met Fis Kop out and Mochachos yesterday. He was flying to Cape Town. He said Tonight will be a Liverpool Victory. I apologise to all the owes that sent me messages yesterday as I forgot my phone at work. But all we have to do now is come back from the dead and the MANCS who constantly say that they are our benchmark will have that hate and hasad in their hearts. We know this. They all must be praying for a Marseille Victory.

But f#4k them. What a game.To THUMP porto 4 at Anfield. Its just a pity we find ourselves in this position. We should have qualified a long time ago. The lity Torres was class on the night. Thats what you need to do in Europe. FINISH. Liverpool seem to always concede the high balls from the flanks. I think we need more aerial threat in this department. We often get caught ball watching.Shit goal to concede. Credit to the lads for fighting back and the trip to Marseile will be tough. But we had to score four against Olympiakos. We will come from the Dead…………and go on in Europe where many pundits wrote us off.

Elsewhere all the big Guns did the business.Chelsea were emphatic and they soldier on thanks to the Drog. Madrid just have some work to do……..I hope they do It.

Its the same like what they did with Mourinho…Its a matter of time. Two outcomes here,

    2. The Americans dont know nothing about football.

It would be foolish to axe him at this stage.

Gotta agree that Ronaldo is class and makes a huge difference to the lineup. But remember Shrek plays a monster role too. United with Shrek have played 12 won 10 and drew 8. Draw against Arsenal and the Reading game where he got injured.

If you reckon Ronaldo makes the team then the same thing could be said of Stevie G. Without him on fire the Scoousers are just ordinary.

But talking of players who made a team none were more so than the greatest footballer ever:

    Diego Armando Maradona in 86.

Baggio also did it for Italy in 94.
